Lisa and Gavin – the WEDDING!

Oh my goodness…. where do I begin!? First of all, I wasn’t originally going to be able to shoot this wedding, so we just scheduled their engagement shoot a month or so ago. The shoot was a blast, and I was even more bummed that I wouldn’t be shooting their wedding. Well, things have a way of working out perfectly some times, and I was able to shoot their big day after all. And I can’t tell you how glad I am to say that. Their wedding day was nothing short of AMAZING. The ceremony was at Duke Gardens, with a beautiful, intimate dinner/reception at the King’s Daughters Inn here in Durham. Gavin was the rockstar planner, having all the schedules and vendors figured out, while Lisa handled all of the incredible details. Wait until you see some of these details, people. You’ll either want to steal the ideas or get married all over again so you can do something just as unique. Ah, I loved it!! I had such a tough time narrowing it down to these favorites, and could easily post 20 more. I was also torn on a vintage look vs. a classic look, and since Lisa was really digging the vintage goodness, we’ll have a little bit of both here. Get ready… there’s a lot to say and share with you, and I may jump around a bit. So let’s get started!! And why not start with some of the hottest wedding shoes ever….

And these flowers… wow!!

Even though I live just minutes away, I really want to go stay at this Inn… it is SO amazing, and this suite that Lisa was in was ridiculous. It had this little (actually huge) sunroom area off the bedroom that made for some crazy good lighting. And that dress hanging there in the window was just screaming for a photo… you can even see the killer blue shoes there below it.

The forecast had seriously called for rain on Saturday the entire week leading up to the wedding. I had a feeling it wouldn’t, though, and sure enough… there wasn’t a drop of rain. In fact, there weren’t even that many clouds! Along with the great weather (although it was a tad hot out there), they had some great friends there to help celebrate. Here are the Best Man and Maid of Honor making their way in… how much do you just love that yellow dress Tina is wearing? I want it.

And a shot during the ceremony. How beautiful is Lisa!?

Look at this stylin’ goodie boxes they made for each of their guests! They had a small group, so I thought this was a really awesome way to thank them all for coming…

Each dinner table at the Inn was decorated with the best details, including all these vintage books that belong to Lisa and Gavin. Don’t you just love it!! In fact, after our mini photo shoot with the two of them, they both came back to the Inn to help get every thing in its place before dinner began.

And on their way into dinner, each guest could find a bookmark with their name and assigned table (by author). Genius.

I loved that Lisa and Gavin kept the wedding group on the smaller side (around 40 people total), because we were all able to sit together in the same room together for dinner and chatting. I felt so lucky to have been a part of it all. And that dinner… oh man. Probably my favorite dinner I’ve had at a wedding yet. It was catered by Mama Dip’s, out of Chapel Hill, and consisted of some of the BEST country cooking I’ve EVER had. And don’t even get me started on the wedding cake and dessert table. And look at these yummy, little place markers they’d made for each guest! I grabbed the bride and groom’s for another ring shot…

And have I mentioned already how beautiful Lisa is…. I absolutely love this series of her…

Now for some vintage goodness…. beginning with one of my favorite shots of the day. This was just after Lisa and gotten dressed and ready to go. It was one quiet moment before heading out to meet her groom….

Another detail that I loved about their wedding, was that Lisa and Gavin met each other down at the beginning of the aisle and walked up together to the spot where they’d get married. Wow! This was a moment just as they’d met in the middle, seeing each other for the first time that day…. love it.

After the ceremony, Lisa and Gavin left plenty of time for photos of just the two of them (every bride needs to do this, by the way, because these will be the photos you’ll want most!!). We headed over to Duke’s campus for a little while and got some of these shots, that are seriously some of my all-time favorites…

I think this one may be my FAVORITE SHOT OF THE DAY!!

Congratulations Lisa and Gavin! Your wedding will be one I never forget, and I was so happy to have been a part of it all. I’ll be sure to have some hushpuppies for you when I make my way over to Mama Dip’s. Mmmmmm.
