A few weeks ago, Doug and I picked up a hanging basket for our front porch (optimistic that I wouldn’t kill it like I usually manage to do). Just days after we hung it, as I was watering it with strong determination to keep this plant alive, I noticed a little nest forming. In a few days, the nest was ready, and we peeked inside to find five tiny little eggs.. so tiny they looked like candy….
Over the weeks, we would look out the window to see a protective mother sitting there quietly. The male bird even came by a few times to check on how things were coming along. A couple days ago, I noticed the male and female birds sitting on the basket chain rather than on the nest. I ran out with a chair to take a peek again to find five tiny little babies. They were all piled up on top of each other, hardly any hair, and with closed little eyes. Today, I noticed that two of the babies, who are already getting bigger, were peeking over the side of the nest… so I grabbed a couple shots. Aren’t they cute!? (sort of…)
Well, we’re heading to Wilmington tonight, and shooting a wedding tomorrow! Stay tuned for photos from Jess and Rick’s wedding some time next week….
